Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny, little town that is a bit sleepy. The West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a vast part that stretches from Lachine all the way west. Amanda Brugel grew up on this island, and it is often known as the place where she was born. It is true that she resided there for a very short period of time. Brugel was raised on Courtice close to Oshawa in Ontario. At the beginning of her life she wanted to be professional performer, however an unexpected growth spurt made it impossible. A Toronto Star article revealed she's six feet tall, with heels. When I grew out of male companions, that's when I gave up. Many former dancers turn into acting. In the case of Brugel it was a suggestion from her teacher in drama. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to pursue a role for the school's annual production. It was her choice to take on the lead role of Anne of Green Gables after she had a go at. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts in the year 2000. Over the past 20 years, her roles on television and the big screen have been varied. The character of Rita from the award winning series The Handmaid's Tale was her most memorable. Brugel was the sole Canadian cast member for the season 1 of the show and was only appeared on occasion.
